Subrina and Fran met in 2019 in a Star Trek Discovery FB group. Frustrated by the negativity toward the new show from Trek fans, they vowed to create a space where Black science fiction and fantasy could be discussed, promoted, and appreciated by anyone. Tamia joined after meeting Fran and Subrina at an equally frustrating panel on Discovery where they couldn't discuss Michael Burnham and the incredible Sonequa Martin-Green. Yvette, who we met in the 7th Rule chat packs was an early supporter of the SyFy Sistas FB page. She was quickly asked to join the sistahood. Since then, it's been their mission to make Black science and fantasy mainstream in the minds of all geeks, nerds, and Trekkies.
